At today's session, the Council of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption discussed the Information on the preventive activities of the Section for Prevention of Conflict of Interest of Public Officials in the implementation of provisions related to the prevention of conflicts of interest and compliance with restrictions on the exercise of public functions.

It was established that proactive action achieves measurable results in terms of detecting and preventing conflicts of interest and respecting restrictions on the performance of public functions, and the continuation of such practices by the Agency was encouraged.

Since the beginning of 2022, acting on all requests received, the Agency has given 169 opinions on the existence of conflicts of interest and restrictions in the performance of public functions, which are binding for public officials.

The opinions primarily related to the situations in which a public official may find himself in the course of performing a public function: conflict of interest and exclusion in discussion and decision-making, limitations in the performance of functions, performance of incompatible functions and jobs, membership in management bodies and supervisory bodies, membership in working bodies, receiving fees, as well as limitations upon termination of office, conclusion of contracts, receiving sponsorships and donations, status of public officials.

Following the Agency's opinions, 16 resignations of public officials were submitted in 2022, namely: 11 resignations from the public functions of councilors in local parliaments, one resignation from membership in the advisory body of a public company, as well as one resignation each for membership in the management body of a public company, for the position of assistant executive director in a public company, for membership in the working body of the Government, as well as for membership in the commission of a state body
