The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in cooperation with the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI), and with the support of the United Kingdom Government, organized a meeting in Dubrovnik from October 11 to 13, on the implementation of the Roadmap on Anti-Corruption and Illicit Finance Flows for the jurisdictions of the Western Balkans.

The event, attended by Marina Mićunović, Head of the Section for International Cooperation, Standards and Public Relations of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, gathered representatives of institutions dealing with the prevention and fight against corruption from six countries of the region, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.

The aim of the meeting was to determine what has been done so far within the three objectives of the Roadmap (prevention of corruption in public procurement, further strengthening of control of conflicts of interest and assets, improvement of judicial response to corruption and economic crime), assess current local and regional needs and priorities, and identify future key tasks.

During the event, delegations from the jurisdictions of the Western Balkans presented recent activities and potential challenges to be addressed in the Roadmap implementation process.

The participants underlined the importance of aligned action and joint response of governments and international actors, which are of key importance for effectively solving the threat of corruption and illicit finance flows.
