Agency for Prevention of Corruption

Due to the insults experienced in the Parliament of Montenegro, we expect an apology from the president

With the hope that the President of the Parliament inherits the values of the culture of public communication and the manners of domestic behavior inherent in the Montenegrin tradition, we expect that she will respond in a timely manner and apologize for the harassment we experienced.

Although neither the Law on Prevention of Corruption nor the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro oblige us to attend the sessions of the Anti-Corruption Committee and the sessions of the Parliament where our work reports are discussed, until now we have always responded to invitations from the legislative chamber.

We did so with the conviction that we are here to strengthen institutional ties, strengthen the partnership relationship and be each other's support in anti-corruption activities. Attending the sessions represented an act of our responsibility and deep respect for the citizens, the Parliament and the institution we represent.

We can put up with MPs presenting political qualifications that do not correspond to the truth and refuting the allegations made by numerous international partners about our activities, primarily the European Commission, the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

We can also tolerate the fact that among the elected representatives of the people, no one responded to our repeated invitation to visit the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, to get acquainted with its organization and functioning.

We can also tolerate the fact that the majority of deputies, closely following their political and party interests, did not read our Report on the work for 2021.

However, what we cannot and will not tolerate are the brutal untruths and personal insults, unworthy of the Parliament and inappropriate for official and public communication, to which we were exposed during today's visit by the well-coordinated tandem of Branko Radulović and Branka Bošnjak.

Instead of Radulović showing personal and professional integrity and excluding himself from the discussion, bearing in mind the number and seriousness of the proceedings against members of his family before the Agency, he, trampling on decency, assumed the role of vigilante from the ambush, in which he received the wholehearted support of the chairman Bošnjak.

Because of their behavior, we ask for a public apology from the President of the Parliament, because as their guests, during the performance of our official duties, in an institution that should be the home of all citizens, we were faced with slander and brazen attempts to disparage, about which we should also inform our international partners.

With the hope that the President of the Parliament inherits the values of the culture of public communication and the manners of domestic behavior characteristic of the Montenegrin tradition, we expect that she will respond in a timely manner and send us an apology for the harassment we experienced.

Otherwise, we will understand it as an obvious example of collapsing the reputation of the Parliament of Montenegro, in which we have no intention of participating.
