The Director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Ms. Jelena Perović, Assistant Director, Mr. Boris Vukašinović and Head of the Department for International Cooperation, Standards and Public Relations, Ms. Marina Mićunović participated, as members of the Montenegrin delegation, together with representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice and the General Secretariat of the Government, at the 91st session of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe.

At the plenary session held from June 13 to 17 in Strasbourg within the fifth round of evaluation, among other things, the evaluation report for Montenegro “Preventing corruption in relation to the highest levels of executive power and the police” was considered. On that occasion, recommendations that our country should fulfill in the next 18 months in order to improve the institutional and legislative framework, as well as practice in these areas, were listed.

The report will be available to the public after the Government of Montenegro implements procedures for authorization and publication.

We remind you that the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption is the national coordinator for fulfilling all obligations arising from Montenegro's membership in this organization. Established in 1999, GRECO has 50 member countries and represents the most important mechanism for evaluating the application of anti-corruption standards of the Council of Europe. Montenegro has been a member of GRECO since 2006.

This evaluation mechanism helps to identify gaps in national anti-corruption policies, providing necessary legislative, institutional and practical reforms. The GRECO monitoring system consists of two phases: the evaluation procedure, which results in a Report with recommendations for further implementation, and evaluation, which includes the evaluation of the measures taken to implement the established recommendations.
