Presentation of the President of the Agency’s Council at the event organized by RAI and UNODC

The President of the Council of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Mr. Momcilo Radulovic, spoke at a special event during the Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP UNCAC), organized by the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), on December 16 in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.

Mr. Radulovic presented the key reforms implemented in the Agency, which now has the institutional capacity and the necessary will to further improve. Stressing the importance of regional and international integration in the prevention of corruption, he said that the Agency maintains intensive cooperation with numerous international partners such as the World Bank, the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, the US Embassy, ​​the Council of Europe and the United Nations Development Program and other actors of the international community. The President of the Council also emphasized the joint current projects of this institution with certain international partners, which are focused on the analysis of the work and strengthening of its capacities.

As an example of successful regional cooperation, Mr. Radulovic said that Montenegro, together with Serbia and Northern Macedonia, signed an International Treaty on Exchange of Data for the Verification of Asset Declarations, which aims to provide direct administrative exchange of the data on public officials' incomes, i. e. more comprehensive and thorough verification of income and possible conflicts of interest of public officials outside the borders of nation states.

Mr. Radulović thanked the representatives of RAI for their continuous support to the Agency, which remains committed to close cooperation with this important international anti-corruption authority.

The President of the Council also emphasized the importance of involving civil society and the media, i. e. the importance of joint cooperation of all relevant actors in the prevention of corruption.

In addition to the Agency's representatives, the head of the RAI Secretariat Ms. Desislava Gotskova, RAI Chairwoman Ms. Laura Stefan, Ms. Mirela Dumar Frahi, UNOD Civil Society Unit, Ms.Snezana Kamilovska Trpovska, Program Officer at the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation and Mr. Jovan Nicic, expert in anticorruption and Director of the consulting center Prospector DOO for the development of anti-corruption policies from Belgrade also participated as speakers during this event.
