Final meeting with representatives of civil society before the elections in Herceg Novi

The dialogue of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption with the non-governmental sector continued today, with a final online meeting before he local elections in Herceg Novi, attended by the Agency's director Jelena Perović and associates and representatives of the NGO Center for Monitoring and Research (CeMi), Center for Civil Liberties (CEGAS) and the Civic Alliance.

Appreciating the quality cooperation between the two sides, Director Perović thanked the civil society organizations for their valuable experiences, with which the Agency has improved its practice in monitoring the election process, thus supporting their legitimacy and credibility.

Dušan Drakić, Head of the Section for Implementation of Control Measures in Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns, presented to his interlocutors the results in the control and supervision of campaigns for local elections in Herceg Novi, presenting specific actions initiated against political entities, state authorities and media due to the suspicion of violating the Law.

Giving a visible contribution to the transparency of the campaign, the Agency made all the documentation it controls accessible to the public, by publishing it on its website.

During the conversation, it was pointed out that there is room for upgrading the legislative framework in order to reduce the possibility of abuse in certain legally insufficiently regulated areas, primarily in controlling the advertising of political entities on social networks and campaign financing by third parties.

Dedicated to the protection of the public interest and the full use of its own capacities, the Agency will continue to develop a partnership with the civil sector in the coming period.
