Director of the Agency participated in the conference 'Integrated anti-corruption investigations'

Director of the Agency Mr. Sreten Radonjić informed participants of the conference on the competencies of the Agency and concrete legal solutions that determine the border between preventive and control action in the fight against corruption on one hand and prosecution of corruption cases on the other, and emphasized successful and continuous cooperation at the operational level with the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, the Special State Prosecutor's Office, the Police Directorate, Administration for Inspection Affairs, the State Audit Institution and other bodies.

Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Sreten Radonjić participated in the conference 'Integrated Anti-Corruption Investigation', where he was one of the introductory speakers along with the US Ambassador to Montenegro, Ms. Margaret Uyehara, and the President of the Board of Directors of Center for Judicial Training and State Prosecutor Senka Danilović.

The main topic of the conference was inter-agency cooperation and experience at local, regional and international level in order to effectively prevent and prosecute cases of corruption. The organizers of the conference, held in Budva on 29thand 30thJanuary 2018, were the US Embassy in Montenegro and the Judicial Training Center at the State Prosecutor's Office.

Director of the Agency Sreten Radonjić informed participants of the conference on the competencies of the Agency and concrete legal solutions that determined the border between preventive and control action in the fight against corruption on the one hand and prosecution of corruption cases on the other, and emphasized successful and continuous cooperation at the operational level with the Supreme State the Prosecutor's Office, the Special State Prosecutor's Office, the Police Directorate, the Inspectorate, the State Audit Institution and other bodies in the area of ​​reports and protection of whistleblowers, the procedures for controlling the financing of political entities and election campaigns, as well as the prevention of conflict of interest. The Director also pointed out excellent cooperation with regard to the exchange of information with the Tax Administration, the Real Estate Directorate, the Ministry of Interior and the Securities Commission in the area of ​​verifying the accuracy of the data in the Reports on revenues and assets of public officials.

Radonjić informed the participants about the results of the work that the Agency accomplished by implementing its preventive and control role in the fight against corruption in the past two-year period, and concluded that the mentioned inter-institutional cooperation is a key factor in achieving these significant results that lead to the realization of the main mission of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption - further building ethical infrastructure in public sector institutions, increasing integrity in the work of institutions, public officials and civil servants, eliminating corruption risks in the public and private sectors, and raising the level of awareness of the consequences of corruptive activities.

In the continuation of the conference, the representative of the Agency, Mladen Tomović, as a panelist during the second session, informed the participants in more detail about the specific cases of cooperation with the prosecutor's office and other competent authorities, with special overview on cases in the field of reports and protection of whistleblowers.

In addition to the representatives of the Agency, the panelists on the first day of the conference were Mr. Heikki Wendorf, former prosecutor in Finland, B&H and Kosovo, Erik Larson, Permanent Legal Advisor at the US Embassy in Podgorica, Sasa Čađenović, Special Prosecutor at the Special State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro, Ms. Kesni Krizman and Mr. Slaven Boras, representatives of the Croatian Bureau for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime, Mr. Markus Bush, US State Prosecutor and Mr. Tomas McDonald, Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
