The subjects of the Law on Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns had doubts about the status of their obligations regarding the decisions of the President of Montenegro on changes to the decisions on calling early elections for councilors in the assemblies of the municipalities of Budva and Tivat, i.e., changes to the decisions on calling elections for councilors in the assemblies of the municipalities of Bar, Danilovgrad, Kolašin, Plužine, Žabljak, Bijelo Polje, Šavnik and Pljevlja, and the Assembly of the Capital City Podgorica.

According to the letter and spirit of the law, the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption reminds the public that, according to Article 2 of the Law, the election campaign lasts from the day the election is announced until the day the final results are announced.

Based on that, the agency informs that the postponement of the dates of local elections does not mean the postponement of the election campaign, which started on the dates when the original decisions were made, namely March 12, April 2, 6, 13 and 20, as well as May 4.

This means that the obligations, prohibitions and restrictions for the authorities, that is, the obligations and prohibitions for the political entities that will participate in the elections, which can be found in more detail on the available links, are still valid.
