Working meeting with representatives of the NGO sector

Continuing the useful practice of exchanging information, views and opinions with the civil sector, the Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption Jelena Perović and her associates held a working meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations Center for Monitoring and Research (CeMi), Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) Center for Civil Liberties (CEGAS) and the Civic Alliance.

The meeting was dedicated to the activities of the Agency in the control and monitoring of the campaign for the local elections in Mojkovac, Petnjica and Cetinje.

Director Perović emphasized that the Agency, in cooperation with the non-governmental sector and the media, significantly influenced the improvement of the transparency of the election process and the level of respect for the legislative framework.

Presenting the activities and results, the Head of the Department for the Implementation of Measures to Control the Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns, Dusan Drakic, said that state authorities from three local governments have submitted 147 employment contracts and 60 decisions allocating funds from the current budget reserve.

In order to gain direct insight into the documentation that monitors the use of public resources bysubjects to the Law, the Agency's officials conducted three of the planned eight controls. The results of the control, as well as all collected documentation, are available to the public via the website of this institution.

The Agency issued 11 opinions at the request of the state authorities on the amendment of the Law on Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns, conducted 7 fact-finding procedures and issued 12 orders for initiating misdemeanor proceedings.

Deeply committed to the protection of the public interest, the Agency will continue to implement the highest professional standards in monitoring the campaign, contributing to the affirmation and promotion of the rule of law.
