EU Expert Mission Visiting the Agency

European Union Expert Mission, which included experts Karina Polanska from Latvia and Alma Sedlar and Jure Škrbec from Slovenia, is visiting the Agency for Prevention of Corruption in the period from 5 to 9 June 2017.    


The mission has started with the meeting with Director of the Agency Sreten Radonjić, who presented to the guests the activities on establishing a normative framework that preceded the establishment of the Agency, jurisdictions of this state institution and its results since the beginning of its work on 1 January 2016.  


The visit of expert mission presents a regular mechanism by which the European Commission assesses the situation in the Chapter 23 – Judiciary and fundamental rights. 


The Mission is dedicated to implementation and results in respect of interim benchmarks from the Chapter 23: Judiciary and fundamental rights, for those benchmarks whose implementation is under the competence of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption or whose implementation it coordinates. 


In this regard the experts from Slovenia and Latvia will have several meetings with representatives of the Agency, which will be an opportunity for direct exchange of opinions in respect of implementation of activities from the Interim Benchmarks from the area of prevention of corruption, especially in the part of the competency of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption. Namely, the objective is assessment of the new legal and institutional framework in the area of the prevention of corruption, organization and competence of the Agency, and first results in the key areas of its mandate.  


In addition to officials of the Agency, the experts from Slovenia and Latvia will hold a series of meetings with representatives of the negotiating team for Chapter 23 and of the State Audit Institution.


This kind of exchange of opinions, as well as reports which will be developed by the experts, will serve the Montenegrin institutions to additionally improve work and achieve even better results in the area of rule of law.
