Meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, H.E. Oana-Cristina Popa

Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Ms. Jelena Perovic and President of the Agency's Council, Mr. Momcilo Radulovic met today with the Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, H.E. Ms. Oana Cristina Popa to discuss fight against corruption related matters which are crucial for Montenegro’s progress towards the EU accession.

It was the first official meeting of the EU Ambassador with the new management of the Agency.

During the meeting, both sides discussed findings of the Commission’s latest annual report on Montenegro published on 6 October including envisaged concrete steps to address the shortcomings and recommendations mentioned in the Report. H.E. Ms. Oana Cristina Popa underlined that the ACA is one of the key institutions taken into consideration when assessing Montenegro’s progress on rule of law and when deciding on whether the Chapter 23 interim benchmarks have been fulfilled.

The representatives of the Agency informed the EU Delegation about the activities and results of the Agency in the recent months, with the emphasis on its activities before, during and after the parliamentary elections. Agency’s plans for reforming and improving work efficiency were also discussed. Furthermore, the results of the APC’s Council in the previous year were presented. Both sides agreed to continue co-operation and exchanges on these important topics on the regular basis.
