Prevention of corruption: APC conducted training for newly appointed public officials

Acting proactively, committed to its preventive and educational role, the Agency for Prevention of Corruption organized a one-day training on reporting income and assets and preventing conflicts of interest on Friday, July 2nd.

The training was attended by newly appointed public officials, who took office during 2020 and 2021, from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Ministry of Capital Investments, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, The Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

In her introductory speech, Director Jelena Perovic said that legality and non-selectivity are the foundations of the Agency's activities, and pointed out how much the obligation of public officials to report their income and assets is a widely accepted standard and important mechanism in the fight against corruption, which contributes to strengthening citizens trust in public administration.

The lecturers were Jasmina Maras, Head of the Department for Verification of Data from Reports on Income and Assets of Public Officials, and Head of the Department for Prevention of Conflicts of Interest of Public Officials Stefan Radunovic, who presented the practice, procedures and results of implementing legal obligations regarding income reporting and property of public officials and the prevention of conflicts of interest in the exercise of public office.

By contributing to the affirmation of the rule of law environment, the Agency will continue to acquaint subjects to the law with educational activities with the provisions and obligations prescribed by anti-corruption laws in its jurisdiction.
