Sixth Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption Ended

Conference in Saint Petersburg was attended by the delegation from Montenegro: Ms Goranka Vučinić, President of the Council, and Mr Ristan Stijepović and Mr Radule Žurić, members of the Council.

Agenda of the last two days of the session of the Conference contained a discussion on the implementation of the Article 63, paragraph 4 (c) of the Convention, including the discussion on cooperation with relevant international and regional organisations and mechanisms and NGOs. Then, participants deliberated on the agenda for the seventh session of the Conference, the approval of minutes of the sixth session, as well as adoption of resolutions that were proposed during the session.

After several hours of the session, following resolutions were adopted: "Promoting information and communication technologies in the implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption", "Follow-up to the Marrakech declaration on the prevention of corruption", "Strengthening the use of civil and administrative proceedings against corruption, involved via international cooperation in the framework of the United Nations Convention against corruption", "Prevention of corruption through transparent and accountable public service and the application of best practices", "St. Petersurg declaration on the promotion of private-public partnership in the fight against corruption", "Strengthening the effective recovery of assets through (domestic actions and) international cooperation", "Education and training of experts for anti-corruption", "Facilitating international cooperation in the field of property restitution and procedures for restitution of property acquired through crime (the original legal owners)", "Strengthening the implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption in small island developing states".

The Chairperson, in his concluding remarks, thanked delegations from the participating countries and international organisations for their participation in the work, to working groups, and in particular the Secretariat of the Conference.
