HOW CAN YOU REPORT CORRUPTION?

Corruption can be reported to the Directorate for Anti-corruption Initiative in person, by telephone, mail, e-mail and on-line. The Directorate for Anti-corruption Initiative is not a body in charge of investigations, but its employees are tasked to make interviews with those who report corruption and make official notices based on the reports. Subsequently, the Directorate for Anti-corruption Initiative submits the report to the Police Directorate, specifically to the unit in charge of fight against corruption and organized crime or to another authorized body. The whole process is regarded as confidential.

A report can be submitted to the Police Directorate. The Technical Instruction on procedures concerning reporting criminal offences containing elements of corruption and the protection of persons who report such offences to the Police Directorate was adopted in October 2008. This Instruction defines in much more detail the procedures for reporting criminal offences containing elements of corruption, the process for the protection of citizens who report corruption and promotion of the procedures and protection. A person who wants to report corruption can do that in many different ways: in written form or orally, via mail, telephone, fax, e-mail or in some other way. An authorized officer is obliged to protect both the identity of the person reporting corruption and the content of the report and take all necessary measures to protect such a person.
