Participation at Regional workshop on corruption reporting in security sector

Head of the Division for Responding to the Reports and Protection of Whistle-Blowers, Kristina Braletić, participated in a two-day regional workshop held in Podgorica on 7-8 May, on ”Corruption Reporting in Security Sector” organized by the Centre for Security Cooperation (RACVIAC) in partnership with the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro and Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI).

The workshop was organized with the aim of strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms of relevant institutions in South-Eastern Europe i.e. raising awareness on required legislative solutions, innovative anti-corruption mechanisms in corruption reporting and regulatory measures in the area of whistle-blower protection. Accordingly, during this workshop the participants had an opportunity to exchange experience and best practices in the implementation of efficient measures in fight against corruption.

At the workshop, Braletić presented the mechanisms of whistle-blower protection i.e. the part of the Law on Corruption Prevention related to the submission of reports and protection of whistle-blowers, as well as recent three-year work and activities of the Agency. She also presented examples of good practice in whistle-blower protection, emphasizing the significance of joint action of all responsible authorities and continuous work aimed at raising public awareness of law abiders on the importance of this institute.

The participants of the workshop emphasized significance of the rule of law and fight against corruption, underlined recent challenges and their tackling and agreed to remain committed to further integrity empowerment in defence sector, cooperation and exchange of experience with state, regional and international partners.

The workshop was attended by thirty participants, the representatives of the Ministry of Defence, regional anti-corruption organizations and agencies from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Kosovo, Croatia, Romania, Moldova and Montenegro.
