Members of the Council of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption of Montenegro Paid Visit to the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption (APCCFC)

Members of the Council of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption paid a working visit to the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption (APCCFC) on 22 and 23 October this year. On the first day of the working visit, the competences, set-up and functioning of anticorruption agencies of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro were discussed with the APCCFC management.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged in respect of implementation of the existing anticorruption laws in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, strategies for fighting corruption, actions taken upon reports indicating corruptive practices, conflict of interest and existing legal provisions on the protection of whistleblowers.

Chairwoman of the Agency’s Council Ms. Goranka Vučinić spoke about the ways in which these matters are regulated in Montenegro and explained anticorruption legislation in that country. She emphasised that the Agency, with its the scope of competences, has achieved good results in all the areas of its work, citing specific examples from practice.

Director of the APCCFC, Mr. Hasim Šabotić, stressed that the institution he manages is investing maximum efforts in the implementation of anticorruption measures set out by the law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that additional improvements needed to be made to the anticorruption legislation which is in force in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to achieve higher degree of efficiency in fighting corruption in that country.

On the second day of the visit, a working meeting was held with head of the Office for the Fight against Corruption and Quality Management of Sarajevo canton Mr. Erduan Kafedžić. On that occasion, experiences were shared about activities related to prevention of corruption, data collection, reporting suspicion of existence of corruptive practices and coordination among all the stakeholders included in anticorruption strategic plans.
